Romans 8:26 – wat should we pray?

While we often don’t know what to pray for, we can do one thing in advance: to give thanks. Because when we know that GOD’s way is always the best, we can therefore entrust ourselves to it without restriction. Thanking that He knows “what must be”. And also thank that everything that takes place will work together for good (Rom. 8:28). Then uncertain prayer is turned into joyful thanksgiving! And what do we still pray for? To realize that truth in fullness!
Prayer is difficult. Because, what should we pray for? Of course we have our wishes. And we can also make it known to God. All of it (Phil. 4: 6). But we have no idea whether it really must be, as the text literally says. We pray e.g. for someone’s recovery. Or that we may be spared for a rough road ahead. Or you name it. How obvious are such wishes. But is it also “what must be”? We may ask good things, but is it also the best? We have no insight into that. We don’t see the big picture. There is only One who oversees everything.
