Proverbs 25:2 – God’s glory conceals…

Why are the scriptures often so hard to understand? Why is it not provided with a keyword register in which all questions are neatly answered in order? How much more accessible would the Bible be if the content had been neatly presented to us on a silver platter?
The answer to these and similar questions and objections can be found in the quote above. “It is God’s glory to conceal a matter …”. The scriptures are not easily accessible. Or as bite-sized chunks. Even people who have studied for it usually don’t understand it. And that is intentional. For in this inaccessibility of the Scriptures, GOD’s glory is expressed. GOD does not have ‘to sell’ his word. It is precisely the incomprehension of (learned) people that demonstrates GOD’s glory.
It is GOD’s glory to hide a matter. It is therefore findable, but only through research. Jesus did not say: read the scriptures. But: “Search the scriptures …!” For the scriptures explain each other. One Scripture explains the other. And by searching for “hidden treasures” (Proverbs 2: 4), the Scriptures make themselves to be understood. That is the royal way!
