Romans 3:21- through the faith of Jesus Christ
03-11-2020 - Posted by Andre Piet…yet a righteousness of God through Jesus Christ’s faith, for all and on all who are believing, for there is no distinction.
In the preceding verse, Paul wrote about GOD’S righteousness being revealed apart from law. In this verse he explains it further: it is by faith of Jesus Christ. Almost all modern translations render this as “by faith in Jesus Christ”, but that rendering is definitely wrong (because it is a genitive). There is a vast difference between the two expressions. Faith in Jesus Christ would be about our faith in him. While “faith of Jesus Christ” is about the faith that Jesus Christ Himself had.
GOD’S righteousness was made manifest “by Jesus Christ’s faith.” I.e. GOD does justice to his promise and Jesus Christ has fully committed himself to it. He went the way of faith and said, “Lo I am arriving In the summary fo the scroll it is written concerning Me” (Heb. 10: 7). And he became obedient to death, even to the death of the cross (Phil. 2: 9). And for the joy that lay before him he endured the cross. Because he knew: GOD will raise me up. Look there: the faith of Jesus Christ!
