Saviour of all – all saved?

05-02-2019 - Posted by Andre Piet

The Scripture (and especially the apostle Paul) teaches explicitly that GOD is the Saviour of all mankind. That is not an offer, but an announcement. It is the good message that is the deathblow for every religion, including its ‘christian’ variation. For GOD guarantees each child of humanity, without any compensation, to give the new life that He brought to light by the resurrection of His Son. Whether one believes or not. That is an enormous Biblical truth, particularly painful for the orthodox religiosity.

Another, equal Biblical truth is that a human is only saved by “invoking the name of the Lord”. There is simply no other way. Those who don’t invoke this Name, have not been saved. “Who has the Son, has life; who doesn’t have the Son, doesn’t have the life. It’s black or white. Is that conflicting the earlier mentioned truth that He is the Saviour of all mankind? Certainly not! But unfortunately the truth of “the Saviour of all mankind” is often confused by the lie that all people have been saved already.

A human is saved by faith. Faith is the canal or the means whereby GOD saves.

For in grace, through faith, are you saved, and this is not out of you; it is God’s approach present, not of works, lest anyone should be boasting (Ephesians 2: 8, 9).

Paul writes in Romans 10:

… that, if ever you should be avowing with your mouth the declaration that Jesus is Lord, and should be believing in your heart that God rouses Him from among the dead, you shall be saved… (10: 9).

And a bit further:

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same One is Lord of all, being rich for all who are invoking Him (10: 12).

Please note that Jesus Christ is the Lord of all. Thus not: Jesus Christ wants to become your Lord… No, He is! You are his property. That is one side of the truth. The other side is: “He is rich for all who invoke Him”. Regardless which treasures GOD gives, they come to us by faith and by invoking the Name of the Lord. “For”, Paul continues, “all who are invoking the Lord, will be saved”. There never was another route and there never while be. GOD is the Saviour of all mankind, precisely because (finally) all people will invoke his Name. God has even sworn this (Isaiah 45: 23). And that’s why Paul writes in Philippians 2:10,11:

… that in the name of Jesus every knee should be bowing, celestial and terrestrial and subterranean, and every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord, for the glory of God, the Father!
