Romans 6:11 – Resurrection life now! 

Thus you also, be reckoning yourselves to be dead indeed to Sin, yet living to God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Living by faith is not a matter of seeing or feeling, but of reckoning. Reckoning as God reckons. The one who believes is “in Christ Jesus”. Made one with Him. His position is our position. He died… and we with Him. He was raised from the dead… and we with Him. Sin is behind us. That is not our experience, but it lies in historical fact. For we are “in Christ Jesus”.

We reckon ourselves as “dead to sin”. What does sin do to a dead person? Nothing. And what does a dead person do with sin? Also nothing. Certainly this is contrary to the teaching that we should fight against sin. For whoever fights against sin and tries to avoid it, is constantly engaged in … sin. Sin controls you!

But whoever walks “in newness of life” (Rom. 7: 4) ignores sin. Then sin is rightly negative, that is, ignored. How? By living to God! But does not such a life only begin at the resurrection? Yes, but this is also resurrection life! Not later, but now!
