You can never get rid of God

This evening I listened online to a beautiful speech given by Wim Hoogendijk in Zoetermeer. The message was about the faithfulness of God. The starting point was the passage in Romans 3 in which Paul states that our unfaithfulness (= unbelief) can never, ever nullify the faithfulness (= faith) of God (Romans 3:3). God is faithful – that is, He never abandons the works of His hands. Sometimes He lets go… that is true. But always with a purpose…
In Scripture, “the faith of God” is the foundation of all salvation. In Christian tradition, that has been replaced by the faith of man. Salvation ultimately depends on man’s choice. But man’s faith is not a foundation – it is (merely) a channel or gateway. “… through faith” we become partakers of it.
The essence of the Evangel is that God loves humanity unconditionally. One of the statements Wim makes is: you can never get rid of God. Psalm 139 says: if I ascend into the heavens – You are there. And if I make my bed in the unseen – You are there. God’s love keeps pursuing the human being. No ocean too wide and no valley too deep to stop Him from doing so.
Anyway, listen to the message yourself.
By the way, if you’d like to know more about what Wim has to say—he currently has his own website: www.inperspectief.com (no longer online). There you can read about the studies he gives and about CDs available through the foundation. Soon, a book will also be released by Inperspectief: a translation from English of a book by Thomas Talbott, with the telling title: The Irresistible Love of God.
Highly recommended!
