Is Rev. Paul Visser a conspiracy theorist?

Since March 2020, GoedBericht.nl has consistently pointed to the prophetic significance of totalitarian developments unfolding worldwide. Lockdowns, face masks, censorship of free speech, QR-code controls, and ever-increasing exclusion of the unvaccinated are signs on the wall. From the very start, we were assured from above that these restrictions would only be temporary—but after a year and a half, that claim has been disproven. And what about the assertion that “the vaccine” would bring the virus under control? The truth is that this experimental “vaccine” appears to work for only a few months, and in hospitals in countries like Israel, most COVID cases involve people who are double-vaccinated. Those who decline a third dose are then considered “unvaccinated” and denied access to public spaces. And new conditions are continually imposed to gain freedom. This is what’s called “hostage-taking.”

Reverend Paul Visser

I fully realize that in mainstream media, this kind of message is dismissed as “wappie” or “conspiracy thinking.” Fine. The framing in Christian media is no different. On Sunday, October 10, Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN) minister Paul Visser preached, drawing connections between current developments and the totalitarian control described in Revelation 13. He cautiously showed how plans from the World Economic Forum and “The Great Reset”—emphasized by its director Klaus Schwab—bear a strong resemblance to end-times prophecy. One of Schwab’s statements is:

“By 2030 you’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy.”

These are not conspiracy theories, but agendas from major global institutions and think tanks—you can verify them yourself. Rev. Visser warns that if governments take control of digitalization (e.g., linking information databases), it signals the end of our freedom. And by continuously keeping the fear alive, the general public turns out to be a very willing prey. Visser argues that the world depicted in Revelation 13—“without the mark on the hand or forehead, no one could buy or sell”—is rapidly approaching.

Today, the minister was grilled about this sermon by the Netherlands’ leading newspaper, which was clearly not amused. The interviewer accused him:

“You say: ‘Go investigate it for yourself. You can find it all.’ That’s what conspiracy theorists say too: ‘Do your own research.’”

You rub your eyes! Isn’t journalism’s ABC to ask questions and investigate thoroughly? And here, a minister is being reproached by (of all people) a journalist—for encouraging people to research themselves! “Because that’s what conspiracy theorists say, too.” This attitude typifies the MSM, and the Christian media once again turn out to be no different at all. They too have been wrapped up in the globally rolled-out narrative, and critical distance is explicitly discouraged.

derogatory labels

I am grateful for the rare voice that Paul Visser makes heard*—a voice crying in the (churchly) wilderness. It takes courage to be willing to be dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist” or a “wappie.” Let them be badges of honor. Whoever does not grasp that the prophetic term of “two days” (read: two millennia) is drawing to a close, lacks the essential alertness to recognize, being awake, the signals of the approaching end time. Such a person allows themselves to be lulled to sleep by the world’s agenda with (non-)issues like gender neutrality and climate change. The mentioned Dutch Newspaper (but also Dutch Evangelical Broadcasting Network, etc.) may serve here as a ship stranded on the shore.

* I am leaving aside the explanation that Visser gives about “the Beast” and other details in “Revelation.” In my opinion, he follows the “spiritualizing route” more than necessary, but since this lies outside the scope of this blog, I will leave it at that here.
