Visitor numbers

“How are the visitor numbers of the Goedbericht site these days?” I’m often asked. “There used to be an icon on the homepage so I could check the stats myself.” That’s true—the icon has disappeared. Still, from time to time I’m happy to share a bit about the “viewing figures.” Because I can say with satisfaction and gratitude that the Goedbericht site has absolutely nothing to complain about in that regard. In fact, the number of visitors continues to grow almost every month.

To give an impression: in the month of January (which ends only tomorrow), more than 20,000 visitors were recorded in total. That’s a daily average of 673 visitors. On average, nearly 7,000 hits and 2,753 page views were registered each day. I’ll admit—’Dancing on Ice’ is more popular and ‘NU.nl’ would laugh at these numbers—but still…

The internet is an unimaginably effective medium. I consider its invention to be even more revolutionary than the invention of the printing press around 1500. Sometimes I try to imagine how much time, money, and effort it would have cost to give the message of Goedbericht.nl the same reach by paper as it now has through the internet. What a privilege it is—so I realize in moments like that—to be alive in this time. With such unique opportunities to herald the Good Message concerning “the Saviour of the world”!
