Dear Mr. Verhoeven,

Several people have pointed me to your article “Unitarian Universalism (UU).” Well, the fact that Paul, in your eyes, was apparently a Unitarian because he wrote: “… for us, indeed, there is one God, the Father…” (1 Cor. 8:6), is fine by me. I’m happy to be in the company of this “apostle of the nations” (with or without heretical labels from the ‘orthodox’ side). However, the majority of the article is demonstrably nonsense and – worse still – pure slander. It is argued that (among others) the Goedbericht site would have an affinity with claims such as:

“The essence of Christianity is primarily seen in the ethics of Jesus of Nazareth, considered merely as a man.”

“UUs deny the deity of Christ. That is, He is not God and Savior, but a good man and teacher. They claim that the apostles and other Christian writers added the teachings about Christ’s atonement to Scripture.”

“UUs deny the divine inspiration and absolute authority of Scripture. They claim the Bible is merely a human creation, and therefore the Bible contains many ‘inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and errors.’”

One glance at just the front page of Goedbericht.nl is already enough to refute the above claims. I don’t even find it worth the effort to elaborate further.

Either you don’t know what you’re writing, or you’re not writing what you know.

Kind regards,
–André Piet–
