Ouweneel junior speaks

On goedbericht.nl the name Ouweneel appears with some regularity. In the past often in connection with a publication by Dr. Willem Ouweneel in which he fiercely argues against “the doctrine of the Reconciliation of all.”
With pleasure I would like today to point to a number of statements by another Ouweneel concerning this very same subject. In Visie (EO) of this week an interview is printed with Evert Jan Ouweneel – indeed, the son of.
That in the end the book of his youth, the Bible, could truly comfort him as the only one, was surprising. Evert Jan: I had read it quite thoroughly and knew the moral of every story. Even though with such a father I had heard more lectures than anyone else, the content no longer lived for me. Until it struck me that only the Bible speaks of a God Who promises to restore the earth. Nothing conditional, then, but a promise. That gives the citizen courage! I also discovered that only the God of the Bible says: I will never let you fall, because you are My child. Again no conditional pledge, but unconditional love. That gives the citizen rest!
And a little further…
The second pillar under his faith is the unconditionality of God’s love. (…)
I do not have to be afraid that He will let me fall forever because of what I do. His love is not a ‘quid pro quo’ story; it is a shield that can protect me at all times against the arrows of others. That truly gives rest and dignity. But do you not create a one-sided picture of God in this way? Can He not also be strict? God indeed does not just let everything pass over Him. He can also become angry if I start pulling all kinds of strange stunts. But that does nothing to our family bond. God admonishes and corrects people at the deepest level as a Father, thus never out of mere retribution but, at the core of the matter, out of love and with a view to growth and restoration. I do the same as an earthly father, and why should I be better than the heavenly Father at this point?
Wholehearted ‘amen’!

Ouweneel jr. also organizes a course under the theme ‘the Bible versus Christianity’.
With sub-theme no. 7: judgment: endless punishment or purifying restoration?
Interesting…
