Glorifying God

10-11-2011 - Posted by Andre Piet

… because, knowing God, not as God do they glorify or thank Him, but vain were they made in their reasonings, and darkened is their unintelligent heart. Romans 1:21

The most fundamental truth of Scripture is that God is GOD (Rom.1:21). He is the omnipotent and omniscient One. He determines everything and therefore, by definition, nothing ever goes wrong with Him. Things take place because, in advance, He gave everything a place in His Plan. God is “the happy God” (1Tim.1:11), because His purpose for every creature will succeed! It’s one thing to know that God is GOD; it is another thing to also glorify Him as God. Glorifying God means to display His glory. It is not merely that we acknowledge that God is GOD, but that the glory of this truth in our lives will shine. How can we glorify God as GOD? Very simple: God’s way is always, and regardless, the best way. When we glorify God as GOD, we acknowledge and thank Him so, in everything. We know that the minuses (the negatives and the evil) are not really minuses, but are pluses in-the-making. What a difference! Those who acknowledge God as GOD, do not only not complain; no, they thank God for the fact that everything has a purpose! One who glorifies God, has a twinkle in his eyes, even though mixed in with tears, at times. Why? Because those eyes reflect something of the glory that God is GOD: everything is perfectly under control! ——————————— translation: Peter Feddema
