Galatians 1:12 – Neither accepted from a man nor taught by a man.

For neither did I accept it from a man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

That the Gospel that Paul preached “is not according to man”, he motivates on the basis of two facts. He did not receive it from a man (i.e., on earth) nor was it taught to him by a man. Here Paul uses the same word for ‘receive’ as he used earlier in connection with. the Galatians (1:9). But notice the difference. The Galatians had received the Gospel through Paul while Paul himself had received it directly from Jesus Christ. For “through a revelation of Jesus Christ” he received it. Thus and at once it became clear to him that Jesus Christ has indeed been raised from the dead and is alive!

But it didn’t stop there. In theory, it could have been that after Paul had been called on the road to Damascus, he would have immediately joined the apostles in Jerusalem to be taught by them. But none of that! Jesus Christ would appear to Paul again (Acts 26:16!) and that is why Paul first went to Arabia after his calling (Gal.1:17). There he was taught by Jesus Christ himself. In the same country where the Lord once appeared to Moses and entrusted his words to him (Gal.4:25)
