Ephesians 6:13 – Wartime

Therefore take up the panoply of God that you may be enabled to withstand in the wicked day and having effected all, to stand.

As believers we are (according to the flesh) in hostile territory. The world-mights who are still behind the scenes are aiming at us. Because their time is almost up and that means that they have to give up their position to us. When we (physically) go up, they come down. Hard. Our promotion is their degradation. We live in wartime and therefore Paul speaks of “the evil day”

Ordained by God, we are in the position of dominion “among the celestials”. What matters today is that we are going to stand for that. To be aware of who we are “in Christ”. Our position is certain, but without realizing it, we will not experience the power and wealth in our daily practice. To stand and thus resist all wiles, it is necessary to take the whole armor of God. Every part of the armor that Paul mentions is necessary to remain standing. Not a single element of it is superfluous luxury.
