Ephesians 3:16 – In accord with the riches of His glory

…that he may be giving you, in accord with the riches of His glory, to be made staunch with power, through His spirit in the man within…

Already in the first chapter Paul wrote about “the riches of the glory of His allotment among the saints” (1:18). That is the glory that GOD has for us. Of course, Pal did not have to pray for that. After all, that is our guaranteed possession!

Paul’s prayer is about what GOD would do in us. It is one thing to possess “the riches of his glory”. But if it is limited to that, then in practice it is only ‘dead capital’. Then I am like an ignorant multimillionaire who spends his existence in poverty. Isn’t that sin? – literally and figuratively.

What matters is that we start to realize what “the riches of his glory” is. Because the measure in which we know that richness is proportional to the strength that we will experience in our lives (compare Col. 1: 10 and 11). Power “in the man within”. That is not in the stomach but in the heart. Power that makes us strong and vital. That starts with knowledge and awareness.
