ALL in His hand!

Dear André Piet,

A question I regularly think about myself is the following: does God direct our life in detail or does He stand at a distance? Or does it depend on the extent to which you want God to determine your life in detail whether that is also the case? On the one hand there are texts from which a so-called ‘detailed control’ seems to follow: ‘not a sparrow falls from the roof without the Father’ etc., and on the other hand it seems, humanly speaking, so illogical that the Almighty concerns Himself with every creature down to the smallest detail. If, for example, I am in a job application process and also pray about it, can I then assume that God directs how it proceeds? Do you have biblical arguments for that? You yourself recently indicated that you do believe that God had a hand in you not receiving a contract extension in your position as a teacher, although you yourself really liked that position. On what do you base that God actually directs it that way and has a purpose with it? Thank you in advance for your answer and God’s blessing, also in finding a suitable position.

Kind regards,
x

nothing is too small for Him

I indeed believe that GOD directs everything and has a purpose with everything. Even the work of the Adversary cannot but fit into that. It seems incomprehensible or perhaps even absurd that “the Almighty concerns Himself with every creature down to the smallest detail,” but I counter that it is illogical if it were otherwise. GOD is, after all, the Creator of everything?! From the galaxies to the molecules and atoms. From the blue whale to the ant and amoeba. Nothing is too great for Him, but nothing is too small for Him either.

He has the script

Nothing is hidden from GOD and He knows all things. Nothing ever happens that surprises Him. From the beginning He already proclaimed the end, by which is said that for Him everything is known beforehand. If it were otherwise, He would not be omniscient. For us, only the things that have happened are fixed. Man can only write history about matters that lie behind us. But for GOD, “who knows the present and surveys the future,” the future is as fixed as the past is for us. It is written in His book – He has the script in His hand!

everything has a purpose

Because everything has a purpose and GOD is for me, who or what could ever be against me? Whatever evil is devised against me, in the end it will only prove to be for my benefit. It cannot be otherwise than that it works together for good!

In the above I have directly or indirectly referred to various passages of Scripture. Here are a (small) number of them listed once more:

YHWH has made EVERYTHING for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Proverbs 16:4

I am the One telling from the beginning the outcome, and from aforetime what has not yet been done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and all My delight I shall do;
Isaiah 46:10

… forming light and creating darkness, making peace and creating evil; I, YHWH, do all these things.
Isaiah 45:7

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book they were all written, the days that were formed, when none of them yet existed.
Psalm 139:16

Behold, I Myself have created the smith who blows the coals in the fire and brings forth a weapon for his work; and I have also created the destroyer to ruin.
Isaiah 54:16

But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks; shall we receive good from God and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Job 2:10

He has made everything beautiful in its time; He has also set the eon in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God does from the beginning to the end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And not one of them shall fall on the earth apart from your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Matthew 10:29,30

Now we are aware that God is working all together for good to those who are loving God, to those who are called according to the purpose.
Romans 8:28

What, then, shall we be declaring to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31
