children of one Father?

QUESTION:
Are all people children of God?
ANSWER:
That depends on what we mean.
All people, as creatures, have come forth out of God. Therefore He is their Father. “Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us?” we read in Malachi 2:10. And Paul says on the Areopagus to his hearers, without making any distinction: “…for WE are the progeny of God…” (Acts 17:29).
But besides the fact that the Bible speaks of a creation, it also speaks of a new creation. That is the creation of which Christ, by His resurrection from the dead, is the Firstfruit (Col. 1:18). “So that if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation” (2 Cor. 5:17). Those who are “in Christ” are called “children of God” for an additional reason (Rom. 8:16, 21; 1 John 3:1, etc.). They are not only creatures but new creatures! Not merely born, but begotten again (1 Pet. 1:3; Titus 3:5). Children of God in a double sense!
A moment is coming when every tongue will be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord… for the glory of God, the Father (Phil. 2:11).
Then He will prove to be the Father of all mankind.
In the full sense of the word!
