1Corinthians 3:18,19 – Wise in this eon

21-12-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet

Let no one be deluding himself. If anyone among you is presuming to be wise in this eon, let him become stupid, that he may be becoming wise. For the wisdom of this world is stupidity with God. For it is written, “He is clutching the wise in their craftiness”.

Paul continues to embroider on the theme   of the construction of the ecclesia. “Wooden construction, grass and straw” are inadequate because they represent human work. “Wooden constructions” refer to strongholds of human thought and reasoning. It seems impressive but it cannot survive the Divine test.

Attempts by believers to gain recognition of human wisdom and to be considered highly by the academic world, are pure self-deception. For whoever wants to master GOD’s wisdom will have to be content to be considered a fool by the world. We can’t make it to be more fun…

The wisdom of this world is foolishness with GOD. It is exactly in their clever craftiness, where GOD tackles the “wise” The top theologians in Jerusalem were not able to recognize their Messiah and they crucified him. But GOD roused him three days later thumbing a nose at all what is considered to be wise to the world.
