1Corinthians 1:4 – giving thanks because of grace
25-10-2018 - Posted by Andre PietI am thanking my God always concerning you over the grace of God which is being given you in Christ Jesus.
When Paul writes about the Corinthians, he looks at them with ‘spiritual eyes’. He does not see them “according to flesh” (2 Cor. 5:16). Not according to how the Corinthians revealed themselves in their walk, but on the basis of the grace of GOD that is given to them in Christ Jesus. That produces a very different perception. Then you no longer look at what people once were or what they are now. No, then the focus is on what GOD will make of them. Isn’t that the way GOD looks at us? Now, he already sees us as we will once be. Perfect! Then it is no longer about what people lack, but about how GOD will provide.
This way of perceiving causes us to be constantly giving thanks. Because we no longer obsess over defects. Not even our own. These defects are precisely for the purpose that GOD can show how He is able to provide and to give everything that is needed. Because he changes minuses into plusses!
