Not all flesh is the same flesh, but there is one, indeed, of men, yet another flesh of beasts, yet another flesh of flyers, yet another of fishes.
GOD gives each plant seed its own body, Paul argued in the preceding verse. Now he continues that this is no different for humans and animals. Each type of flesh, i.e. the material from which the body is constructed, is different. A human is built differently from the animal that serves him. A human often surrounds himself with animals because they have powers that they cannot match. A horse is so much stronger and faster while a dog can smell so much better.
Each species is given a body that matches the environment. Birds are totally different than fish. The first have wings and feathers and the second fins and gills. Birds are equipped to be in heaven and fish to be under the surface of the water. Some fish even stay many kilometers in the depth! But a human in the present body can only reside on the surface of the earth, unless he uses artificial means. Try to imagine what the resurrection body will be able to do …
