1 Corinthians 13:2 – Yet should have no love…

Can it be even more impressive? Suppose you could predict the future. And suppose you would know “all the secrets.” Remember that there is no one in the entire Bible to whom more secrets have been revealed than to Paul. He therefore knows what he is writing about here. But he goes even further by speculating that one would possess “all the knowledge” of what is known. And to have such a firm faith in GOD’s word that one is able to move mountains. Add all that together …
No matter how large the sum is, it means nothing without “love.” Because only love gives substance and weight to everything. The word for love here is “agape”, which is unconditional love. Love that is independent of the reaction of the other. Love that never ends! That is “the love of GOD” who never lets go of the work of his hands!
