1 Timothy 4:11 – These things be charging and teaching.

Paul often speaks in his letters about “sound teaching” and its importance. For example, he commanded that “no other teaching” should be taught (1 Tim. 1:3). Timothy followed “good teaching” (1Tim.4:6). And he would monitor “the teaching” (1 Tim. 4:16) and not give cause for “the doctrine” to be blasphemed (1 Tim. 6:1). Paul warns that a time would come when people in Christianity would no longer tolerate “sound teaching” (2 Tim. 4:3).
Titus is said to be an example of “teaching with uncorruptness” (Tit.2:7). Because the entire life practice of believers aims to “adorning the teaching that God is our Savior in all things” (Tit. 2:10). For, Paul continues, “For the saving grace of God made its advent to all humanity.” That is “the teaching that God is our Savior.”
Teaching is not optional. Paul says, “these things be charging and teaching.” What teaching is he talking about? The trustworthy word he just recorded, that “the living God is the Savior of all mankind, especially of believers.” This is how you recognize “sound teaching”. It’s a litmus test. Do people teach these things… or do they not teach them?
