1 Corinthians 14:32,33 – turbulence of peace?

And the spiritual endowments of prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not for turbulence, but peace, as in all the ecclesias of the saints.

A prophet in the ecclesia would be silent if another one present was given a revelation (: 30). No talking together in any case. That makes sense, but it requires self-control. In the ecstatic religion from which the Corinthians came (12: 1,2), they hardly knew that. They were whipped and driven like a cork on the waves.

For prophets in the Scriptures the rule applies: their spirits are subordinate to themselves. They do not roll on the ground, they do not scream, nor do they emit animal sounds such as so-called ‘charismatic’ prophets like to show these days. It is claimed that such expressions are proof of ‘anointing by the Spirit.’ In reality, such frenzy proves the opposite and rather influences of spirits.

Demons occupy (possession!) A person so that they lose control of themselves. The characteristic of “the fruit of the Spirit”, on the other hand, is self-control (Gal. 5:22). Without that control, disorder arises. Then people no longer wait for each other, which in turn leads to conflict. But God is always a GOD of order: He puts everything in its place. Right time, right place! And that realization gives peace!
