Ephesians 5:6,7 – seducing empty words
15-08-2018 - Posted by Andre PietLet no one be seducing you with empty words, for because of these things the indignation of God is coming on the sons of stubbornness. Do not, then, become joint partakers with them.
Paul is still busy with the subject of the previous verses. With “these things…” he points to the practices of paramours, unclean or greedy persons. Those who practice these things, will have no allotment in the Kingdom of God. Paul is firm about that.
The motto of GOD’s grace and that He is “the Saviour of all people” (what is undoubtedly the core of Paul’s Evangel!), could easily lead to the reasoning that someone’s lifestyle should be unimportant. Frequently Paul had to deal with that error (Romans 6: 1, 15). On the contrary: Some were averring that Paul said that himself (Romans 3: 8). But those are seducing “empty words”.
GOD’s anger may indeed not be the last word, and it may be relatively short (Psalms 30: 5); it is for sure a reality. Who is not correctable and who doesn’t reckon with GOD’s word, will face Him ab-so-lu-te-ly. God is not mocked. And in the oncoming Kingdom these practices will not be tolerated.
People who are reserved for the throne, should also know thát!
