prejudging and final judgment

In Revelation 20 is described the impressive scene of the Great White Throne, where heaven and earth flee and where all the dead, who had no part in the first resurrection (before the thousand years; 20:5), will appear. There, everything will be revealed. Every work, good and evil, will come to light. The “film” of earthly life will be shown there. Nothing will remain covered. There will be no need for discussion, because the facts will speak for themselves. Scripture warns, more than once, not to prejudge matters which we do not adequately know. It is ever so easy to judge other people and situations and even ourselves, without really knowing all the ins and outs of the background and details involved; without seeing the complete picture. Only the final judgment will show how much our judging, was prejudging. And with how many judgements about others, do we not, in fact, condemn ourselves? Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount:

“Do not judge, lest you may be judged, for with what judgment you are judging, shall you be judged, and with what measure you are measuring, shall it be measured to you. -Matthew 7:1,2-

The judgment described in Revelation 20, takes place at a Great White Throne. Is that color not very significant? What will be shown there is the pure truth, which no one will be able to contest. Precisely that truth, which then no longer can be suppressed, will correct everything. Please realize that this truth will often be hard and painful. Paul writes, in connection with the “day … of the revelation of the righteous judgment of GOD” (Rom.2:5), in verse 9:

Affliction and distress, on every human soul which is effecting evil, both of the Jew first and of the Greek…

For the “affliction and distress”, which are mentioned here, no torture instruments will be needed. The revealing light of GOD is sufficient to judge and correct everything. Also, remember that the One Who will sit on the Throne (John 5:22), at one time, gave Himself up as a ransom for all who will be standing there before Him (1Tim.2:6). This makes the outcome of the salvation, reconciliation, justification and vivification of all, a guaranteed reality in advance (1Tim.4:10; Col.1:20; Rom.5:18; 1Cor.15:22). But all in GOD’S time. First, man must find out about himself and come to realize who he is in the light of Almighty GOD. GOD will not forsake the works of His hands. That is precisely why He exercises judgment. He will set everything straight and in its right place.
