02-07-2013 - Posted by Andre PietElection is a biblical fact. While waiting Romans 9-11, Paul ends with the universal outcome of all of God’s plans (11,32,36), but he started in Chapter 9 with the fact that God also elects.
11 For, not as yet being born, nor putting into practice anything good or bad, that the PURPOSE OF GOD may be remaining AS A CHOICE, not out of acts, but of Him Who is calling, 12 it was declared to her that “The greater shall be slaving for the inferior”…
Esau, from the outset, was destined to become subservient to his younger twin brother. That was said to Rebekah (Gen. 25:23) and nowhere do we read that she had to tell this to her children or that she did inform Esau about this. When we read a few verses further in Romans 9, we encounter Pharaoh. Before Moses went to see Pharaoh, he was already given to understand that Pharaoh would not listen. In fact, God would prevent even him to do this.
And Yahweh said to Moses: When you go to return to Egypt, see to all the miracles which I place in your hand, that you do them before Pharaoh. Yet I shall make his heart steadfast, and he shall not dismiss the people. -Exodus 4:21-
Did Moses go to Pharaoh with this statement? No! For him there was only one message: “Let my people go!” That was the straightforward will of God to Pharaoh. Whatever was God’s intention behind this, was not for Pharaoh to know. God shares such secrets only with those who love Him (His friends). Moses was informed of this, not Pharaoh. Election and predesignation are powerful Biblical truths, but only for believers. That we are “chosen before the disruption of the world” (Eph.1:4), Paul writes in a letter to believers. But the truth which every man should know is this:
3 …our Saviour, God, 4 Who wills that all mankind be saved and come into a realization of the truth. -1Timothy 2-
All of humanity should know that God, our Savior, will that all mankind be saved and that He, indeed, is the “Saviour of all mankind” (1Tim.4:9-11). That is the all-inclusive truth, wherewith we may confront everyone. Do people believe that, then for them is the exclusive message that God had already chosen them from before the disruption of the world. This way, “all boasting is excluded”! Paul continues in 1 Timothy 2:
5 For there is one God and one Mediator of God and mankind, a Man, Christ Jesus, 6 Who is giving Himself a correspondent Ransom for all (the testimony in its own eras), 7 for which I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of nations in knowledge and truth. -1Timothy 2-
