Titus 2:12 Grace training us.

For the saving grace of God made its advent to all humanity, training us …

God wants all mankind to be saved (1Tim.2:4) and He is also the Savior of all mankind (1Tim.4:10). In Christ Jesus who paid the ransom for all (1Tim.2:6) this truth has become manifest and Paul, as herald, apostle and teacher of nations, has been able to make this known to the world.

Grace (Gr. charis) means: joy ‘ for free’. God’s grace is like the sun that rises gratuitously and shines its light for all people. However, God’s grace not only saves all people, it also educates. The first is universal (“all humanity”), the second (“training us”) is the privilege enjoyed only by believers in the present day. The word for “training” in Greek is “paideuo” (derived from the word for “child”, Gr. pais) and we still recognize our word “pedagogue” in it.

In Galatians 3:24,25, Paul argues that the law has been a ‘pedagogue’ to Israel from Sinai to Christ. That is over. Now there is an entirely different principle that educates us. Not the law, but grace (Rom.6:14)! That is a huge difference, because the law demands, but grace, on the other hand, gives. Grace makes you happy and forms from within the drive to live for God!
