Romans 2:7 – Eonian life (2)

… those indeed, who by endurance in good acts are seeking glory and honor and incorruption, life eonian…

We saw that at the second coming of Christ, no “endless eternity” begins, but two eons in which Christ will reign. Until death will be abolished, after which Christ will hand over the Kingdom to GOD the Father. When the Scriptures speak of “eonian life” it is referring to these glorious eons of Christ’s reign. Not all people will share in the glory of those world eras.

Only those who seek GOD, or “glory and honor and incorruption,” will have part in those eons. Paul is referring to people who do not retain the truth in unrighteousness (1:18). “God-worshipers,” as they are called in ‘Acts.’ The requirement on Noah’s descendants is not whether they keep the law of Moses. After all, that law was never given to them. It is also not a condition that they recognize Jesus Christ, because many of them have never heard of him. Or maybe heard his name, but never heard the true evangel. And yet… they glorify and thank God as GOD (1:21). That’s what it’s about. They too will therefore soon experience the coming eons!
