Priest Forever?

A new text added to the section “examined”: Hebrews 6:20. The usual translations state that Jesus has gone through the veil and since then is Priest… forever. That is strange. In the new creation, according to Scripture, there will explicitly be no more temple. And apparently no priestly service either. For God will then dwell among men without mediation (cf. Revelation 21:3,22). How then “High Priest forever”?
The solution to this peculiarity lies in the fact that in the Greek text of Hebrews 6:20 the phrase “eis ton aiona” occurs, which does not mean “forever,” but “unto the eon.” It refers here to “the coming eon” on this earth. An earth that will indeed be “lifted up” to ideal conditions (under the reign of the King-Priest), but which, even then, will not yet be in the ultimate perfection.
