Philippians 4:20 To our God and Father be glory!

Now to our God and Father be glory for the eons of the eons! Amen!

With three final sentences to go, we have come to the end of this letter. What then is more worthy than to render to the one GOD and Father the praise due to Him. Now no longer just as “my God”, as in the previous verse, but as “our God and Father”. One could consider that circle small by referring the word “our” here to those who now know God as such. But it extends so much further! Remember, earlier in this letter, Paul put “our God and Father” in a universal perspective (2:9-11). In the end every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, “to the glory of God the Father”. Then it will appear that God is indeed the Father of every creature!

It is this glory that Paul envisages here, since it only becomes reality in the mighty final chord of “the eons of the eons”. Christ will reign in those superlative world ages (Rev. 11:15) until all are made alive, and death as the last enemy is abolished (1 Cor. 15:22-28). Everything and everyone will be subordinate to Father and God becomes “all in all”. Amen!
