Philippians 3:21 – humiliation versus glory

For our realm is inherent in the heavens, out of which we are awaiting a Savior also, the Lord, Jesus Christ, Who will transfigure the body of our humiliation, to conform it to the body of His glory…

The present state of our bodies is what Paul calls “our humiliation”. That is literally so because it is bound to the earth below, but also because it is at the mercy of degrading properties. This body is perishable, after all we are mortals. It is also weak, susceptible to disease, and subject to corruption and decay.

None other than the Lord Jesus Christ himself will save us from this humiliating situation. He has been in a position for almost two thousand years that we will soon also occupy physically . Our bodies will be conformed to “the body of His glory.” The glory of our future body is in all respects the opposite of what we just stated about the humiliation (1 Cor. 15:42-49). It is an imperishable body, powerful , vibrant with energy, literally radiant and fit to be in the heavenly realms. It is also a ‘ pneumatic ‘ body – controlled by spirit.

We are waiting for our Lord to come from heaven as Savior to transform our bodies. What an incredible mind-blowing day that will be!!!
