Philippians 3:21 His power

22-03-2023 - Posted by Hans

… awaiting a Savior also, the Lord, Jesus Christ, Who will transfigure the body of our humiliation, to conform it to the body of His glory, in accord with the operation which enables Him even to subject all to Himself.

It will be clear that the transformation of our bodies from humiliation to glory requires a divine power. A resurrection power that we only know so far from Jesus Christ, who alone has immortality (1Tim.6:16). Well, except that we also see this resurrection power illustrated in many ways in living nature. Think of a phenomenon such as metamorphosis in which a water beetle transforms into a dragonfly, or a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. These are impressive types of transformation and an unmistakable demonstration of Divine power.

Incidentally, the above verse is specifically about the ability of Jesus Christ with which He will soon transform bodies. It is the same power with which He also subjects everything to Himself. He received this ability (power > Gr. dunamai) from his God and Father (John 5:25-28). Just as God also destined Him to subdue all things. And when all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subjected, after which God will become “all in all” (1 Cor. 15:28). What power and strength to realize all this!
