Philippians 3:12– Not yet arrived28-02-2023 - Posted by Hans
Not that I already obtained, or am already perfected. Yet I am pursuing, if I may be grasping also that for which I was grasped also by Christ Jesus.
In the preceding verses, Paul described his drive to gain Christ and know Him. And also to possibly become conformed to Christ’s death, so to come to the resurrection from the dead. But Paul hastens to say that he certainly does not pretend to have arrived yet. Yes, de jure , he possesses everything in Christ. But realizing the full scope of these things is a growing process . Here on earth we will never reach the end of it. That only becomes reality when we have come to the resurrection from the dead.
It is important to remember that we are on our way and have not yet reached our destination. That is not only realistic, it also makes you humble. At the same time, it determines us that there is so much more to know and experience. That realization made Paul pursue to grasp that which is superior as well. So that his spiritual possession would not be dead capital. To go for the full return; for this he was grasped by Christ Jesus!
