Peace Arrangements for Jerusalem

Peace and Security Part of our most recent study day (9/11) dealt with the topic, the day of the Lord, which according to the apostle Paul would not overtake the believers as a thief in the night. The reason for this, as the apostle argued in 1Thessalonians 5, is that when everybody will say, “peace and security”, the believers will know what really is about to occur. They are properly informed about “the times and the eras”. Paul referred with the celebrated peace to the first three-and-a-half years of the last ‘year-week’ (heptad) of Daniel 9. A peace treaty will be ratified in connection with “your people” (= Jewish nation) and “your holy city” (= Jerusalem). What has seemed impossible since 1948, will then be realized: a peace arrangement for the Jewish people and the status of Jerusalem as ‘a holy city”. The consequent peace and prosperity will intoxicate the mass of humanity with the idea that the prophesied messianic time will have finally arrived. Sacrifices in the Temple There is yet another noteworthy event connected with the future (apparent) peace in Jerusalem. The Jewish temple service (“sacrifice and approach present”) in the holy place, will be restored. An intense Jewish longing shall become a reality. Try to imagine what it, for example, will mean for the countless ‘harediem’ in the Jewish state, when they finally will have the opportunity to fulfil their Mosaic obligations in connection with the sacrificial services. They are simply waiting for the ‘green light’ of the government authorities. Everything what will be necessary (building materials, instruments, special clothing and sacrifice-necessities, etc.) is plentifully ready with them to be made use of in a moment. Euphoria It is in the pronounced euphoria of those days, that the ecclesia (the body of Christ) will spend her final days here on earth. However, while for Israel and Jerusalem a sudden extermination will arrive, immediately preceding it, the ecclesia will be removed (snatched away). ——————————— first published (in Dutch): 16 september 2011 translation: Peter Feddema
