More than twenty years ago Ouweneel wrote the following remarkable words:

The coming of the antichrist is “according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceit of unrighteousness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:9f.). That characterizes the end time: precisely such powers, signs, and wonders as also characterized the beginning of Christendom (cf. Hebrews 2:3f.)—but now they come from the hand of Satan. Many nominal Christians will unfortunately accept the wonders and reject the truth, as we just read. We see it already growing today: the reliability of the Bible is being undermined and the receptivity for wonders is increasing.
(from De schepping in het geding; p. 62; 1981)

And elsewhere:

“Well then, as far as doctrine is concerned we have (…) seen that the time of special signs of God is past, indeed that in the end time we are to expect special signs of Satan which will be so cunningly camouflaged and presented that, if possible, even many believers will be misled by them. That makes us in advance extremely suspicious of the activity of faith healers within Christendom, especially in mass healing gatherings.”
(from Het domein van de slang; p. 288; 1978)

Below is a fragment from a Bible lecture by Ouweneel in Amsterdam (1977/1978). In it he answers a question about the charismatic movement.
