Mystery or Light in the Darkness?

In response to my last article in which I put forward that God created Satan, quite a few reactions have come my way. Reactions of very different kinds, I must say. Some were tremendously glad to learn that the Bible gives a clear answer to the question about the origin of evil. That God truly is GOD and also gives evil a role in His all-encompassing Plan. Not as a goal in itself, but as a necessary stage and background for displaying His goodness. Others, however, were angry and indignant because in their eyes I am trying to explain away a mystery. “Does André Piet think he has God in his back pocket?”
No, André Piet does not think that. When we are speaking about GOD, we are speaking of Someone who is UTTERLY incomprehensible. My father often said: if creation itself is already so great and incomprehensible, how great and incomprehensible must the Creator Himself then be?! And so it is. But let us please take this God at His Word. Why speak of a mystery when God Himself brings light where it is darkness to us? If God Himself solemnly declares to be the Creator of light and darkness and of good and evil (Isaiah 45:7), who are we then to claim that nothing can be said about this with certainty? That seems modest but it is self-willed. That God once created Satan, I do not need to explain. But I state that He did it. With all the dire consequences involved. But was that a blunder on God’s part? Or did God indeed know what He was doing then? I am deeply convinced of the latter. God acted with foreknowledge. He was proclaiming the outcome from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). And therefore it remains standing like a rock:
with God NOTHING ever goes wrong!
