This coming Wednesday evening (Feb 9), a special gathering is scheduled in Rijnsburg. A Bible evening, but not one as usual. The occasion is the recent completion of the interlinear for the Bible program ISA (Interlinear Scripture Analyzer). Admittedly, the development of the program continues, but the most fundamental element of it all is now finished: the word-for-word rendering of both the New and the Old Testament. After years of labor, the finish line has been reached! That, I would say, is reason enough to organize an evening with a festive touch (during the break free coffee plus… and afterwards a bite and a drink).
The program from 8 to 10 p.m. will be presented by three speakers: the two men behind the input and output (respectively Menno Haayman and André de Mol), and yours truly (I was there and watched it all happen). Each speaker will address, from his own perspective, what “Bereans in 2005” may encounter. For the record: this is not an evening for computer nerds, nor is it intended as a sort of help file for the ISA program. The evening is meant for anyone interested in the unprecedented possibilities for Bible study in our time. For never have “the Scriptures” been so accessible to everyone. This evening will be about the how and why of careful Scripture study in our day.
Because we expect a larger attendance than usual (in January more than 55 people), this time the larger downstairs hall in ‘De Voorhof’ has been arranged.
Everyone is warmly welcome!
