Fighting Against Facts

Anyone who visited the forum earlier this week could once again witness more than the usual “fireworks.” It all began with a rather sharp discussion, but this soon degenerated into plain mudslinging. That, clearly, was not the place to be. Meanwhile, Rudy Brinkman had written a new article in which he attempts to refute the “16 Biblical Facts” listed on the GoedBericht site. I actually recommend reading that article, because such opposition mostly demonstrates its own lack of understanding. Forum participant Dies expressed this very well.
Right from the start, Brinkman’s response hits the mark—in the wrong way. On the very first fact: God does not abandon the works of His hands. Brinkman’s comment is roughly: this fact is irrelevant; next point. Apparently unaware that this fundamental truth alone is fatal to all versions of the endless hell doctrine. Or take Brinkman’s remark (on fact 4), that the GoedBericht site supposedly teaches that God becomes “all in all” after the 1,000 years (Revelation 20). A blunder of the first order, since I consistently explain everywhere that this situation—God being “all in all”—will only come about after Christ has ceased reigning and death, the last enemy, has been abolished. That is, in any case, beyond the end of the book of Revelation.
Well then, anyone who makes such an error disqualifies himself, and can hardly expect his opponents to take him seriously any further.
And so, I had best leave it at that.
