Ephesians 5:20 – Giving thanks about all things

Paul wrote: “Be filled full with spirit” (:19). How else then by the word of Christ (Col. 3:16) who once declared: “My words are spirit and life” (John 6:63). The first effect of this fulfillment is that it causes a human to sing. Not so strange: the word sounds like music in the ears and it makes sense that it also comes out like that.
The second effect that Paul mentions fits seamlessly with that. Fulfillment “in spirit” also causes us to thank. Yes, “… about all things”, Paul adds. Yes, even about trouble, sadness and pain. Of course these are ‘minuses’ in our lives and we would rather not see them. But GOD’s word teaches us that He is turns everything towards good and that He is making all ‘minuses’ into ‘pluses’. It is that realization that makes you feel grateful. Instead of grumbling, we learn to agree with what GOD places in our lives. Then we have harmony in the midst of everything that takes place. And that is why we thank GOD as Father!
