Ephesians 2:6 – Staggering height

30-04-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet

…(in grace are you saved!) and rouses us together and seats us together among the celestials, in Christ Jesus…

First dead and subsequently raised to new life. That is what believers, being made one with Christ, receive. Because His allotment is our allotment. But that is not all. Because was not only resurrected from the dead, but placed at God’s right hand, “among the celestials”. Heavenly places, heavenly atmosphere and millions of heavenly creatures. Elevated up to staggering heights. Look up and see the countless stars and then realize: My Lord is there. He was raised and now He is elevated above all!

But now comes the magnificent truth of the Ephesians letter: Christ is seated “among the celestials” together with us! Like my head cannot be somewhere without my body, so Christ cannot be seen apart from “the ecclesia”, his congregation. They constitute a unit like head and body. So when David prophesied that Christ would be elevated to God’s right hand (Ps.110:1), then that means including “the ecclesia”.  Paul was allowed to make that public! From the deepest depth we are lifted to the greatest height! Indeed: “in grace”. For free!
