Colossians 1: 28 – Every human!

… Christ among you, the expectation of glory! Whom we are announcing, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we should be presenting every man mature in Christ Jesus.

The word of God that Paul proclaimed was a message unknown to previous eons and generations. To Paul it was revealed and to him was given this administration. The (deliberately) hidden Christ among the nations today is “the expectation of glory”! He is the essence and content of what Paul had to proclaim for “every man.” He mentions this three times in one verse: every person! Not just for all of humanity as one big collection, but for “each person” individually.

Proclaiming Christ as Paul did is described here in three verbs: alerting every person, teaching every person and making every person perfect in Christ. The Greek word nouthèteo (Str. 3560) is composed of the elements ’thinking’ and ‘placing’ and indicates ‘bringing something to attention’. And hence admonishing. How would people know about Him who is “the expectation of glory” if no one draws their attention to it? And when interest is aroused, Paul also wants to “teach every man” in “the expectation of glory.” Teach them and make things clear.
