… Christ among you, the expectation of glory! 28 Whom we are announcing, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we should be presenting every man mature in Christ.
The essence of the message Paul made known to the world is not a philosophy or tradition, not a law or ritual, but Someone! A human who, as Firstborn from among the dead, is today seated at God’s right hand. He is “the Son of God’s love” and “Image of the invisible GOD.” Yes indeed, He is the promised Christ who is now, in “the ecclesia which is His body,” hidden among the nations. But make no mistake: He is “the expectation of glory”!
Everything related to Christ is hidden today. Our life too is hidden together with Him in God (Col. 3:3). This is not a failure or defeat, but entirely “in accord with God’s intention.” For in the fact that Christ is “the expectation of glory,” it is implied that the glory will be revealed in the future (Col. 3:4). For expectation being observed is not expectation (Rom. 8:24).
The message Paul proclaimed is far-reaching. In fact, it is all-encompassing! For nothing and no one is excluded from it (Col. 1:20). What an unimaginable glory God has in store for every human being through Christ! And therefore: Him we are announcing!
