Colossians 1: 20 – Making peace through the blood of His cross

Never in history has humanity shown such enmity as when they crucified God’s Son. In Jerusalem of all places, by the crème de la crème of religion, led by priests and scribes. But it was precisely there that the promised Messiah was misunderstood, rejected and crucified. It is against this dark backdrop of enmity that God shined the transcendent light of His love. For three days later God raised His Son to give Life to a world that murdered His Son.
We also see this wise peacemaking beautifully illustrated in the story of Joseph. He was hated by his brothers, thrown into a pit, sold into Egypt, and believed dead in his father’s house. But years later, when he came into contact with them as viceroy of Egypt while they were in famine, he gave them bread in abundance (Rom.12:20). Thus Joseph turned his enemy brothers into friends.
It is through the crucified Son that God gives resurrection life to a dying world. No enmity can match so much love!
