1Corinthians 2:16 – The mind of Christ

09-12-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet

For who knew the mind of the Lord? Who will be deducing from Him? Yet we have the mind of Christ.

As in Romans 11:34, Paul refers here to the words from the prophet Isaiah (40:13). The mind of the Lord is at an incomparably higher level than the thinking of man. How limited is man in his view and intelligence! Isn’t it foolish to rely on that? In addition, peoples judgement is all too easily influenced by ‘soulish’ factors. By the beautiful appearance and the emotions of the moment.

When God produced the creation, there was no man to enlighten or instruct Him. Only the thought is bizarre and laughable. Why then would we take human wisdom so seriously? And why should we want to impress its ‘authorities’? In fact, does GOD not choose to save through the ‘stupidity’ of the heralding?

It was through revelation that Paul had come to know Christ. He was personally called and instructed by Him (Gal. 1:11). The thinking, the wisdom and even the words that express this, Paul did not have of himself. What he preached was no less than the mind of Christ himself!
