Today, according to the Jewish calendar, it is the 10th of the first month (Abib or Nisan). It is the memorable day on which Israel received a little lamb into the house, to slaughter it on the 14th of the month (Exodus 12). It is the day on which, forty years later, Israel came up from the Jordan to encamp at Gilgal (Joshua 4:19). It is also the day on which Jesus went in procession to Jerusalem (mistakenly called “the triumphal entry into Jerusalem”).
And… it is the day on which the Lamb of God entered the house of Israel. According to the literal reading of Luke 2:42, Jesus BECAME twelve years old when He went up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. That brings us to the 10th of Nisan as Jesus’ birthday. Jesus was not a Christmas child. He was born shortly before the Passover. Born to be slain.

P.S.
Striking that precisely today (10 Nisan) the film ‘The Passion of the Christ’ premieres in our country.
