Colossians 1: 18 – He is the Head of the body (2)

The letter to the Colossians and Ephesians are similar in many ways. The content of both letters is also highly parallel. Both letters were also sent and delivered at the same time by Tychicus. A characteristic difference is that the Ephesians emphasizes the ecclesia as the body of the head (Eph. 1:22), while the Colossians emphasizes Christ as “the head of the body.”
That Christ Jesus is “the head of the body, the ecclesia,” indicates that He is incomplete without the ecclesia. This truth, hidden in previous generations and eons, has been revealed to and through Paul (Col. 1:26,27). Before God realizes his plans with Israel and the nations, “the Christ”, that is, head and body, will first be completed. The proclamation of this ecclesia is the present, hidden work of God and began at Christ’s resurrection. This companionship is the first fruit of the new life that He brought to light. And as true firstfruits they therefore receive the highest blessings. Literally, on a heavenly level. Connected to the head as one body!
