Romans 2:9 – On every human soul

The truth set forth in these verses is that GOD judges and He does it righteously (2: 5). In the Christian religion, this truth has been made a hideous caricature by the doctrine of endless damnation. Because in this doctrine, reason and proportion have completely disappeared. An endless hell is also not a judgment because nothing is set right or corrected. An endless hell also has no hope or prospect. This teaching makes one blind to the Evangel, because someone who believes in hell cannot at the same time believe that GOD saves all people.

But GOD does not just save all people. This is preceded by a process in which He first sets all things straight. In order to become the Savior of all people, it is inevitable to do justice to all things first. Earlier we saw that this individual judgment will take place at the “great white throne” (Rev. 20). Everything will be revealed there. Unlike in a human court, nothing can be hidden. Everything is taken into account. The process is fair and just. Yes, it is “a white throne”!
