Ephesians 3:2 – breaking!

30-05-2018 - Posted by Andre Piet

On this behalf I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you, the nations, since you surely hear of the administration of the grace of God…

It’s well known to the explainers, that entire Ephesians 3 (after verse 1) is a parenthesis. In chapter 4 Paul continues what he let go, after Ephesians 3: 1. Ephesians 3 is an interruption of Paul’s plea. But most explainers miss that Paul is a real stylist here. In style he expresses what he is writing.

In Ephesians 3 Paul describes how “the administration of the grace of GOD”, that is given to Him. A secret that wasn’t made known to the previous generations. What GOD makes known to the nations (without exception), through the apostle Paul, was hidden for Israel’s prophets. The nations aren’t blessed by Israel’s reconstruction (as foretold), but by Israel’s fall.

The work that GOD does today, between the first and the second coming of Christ, is an interruption in his plan. Soon He will continue with Israel. He doesn’t relax the works of His hands. But now, “breaking news”, we convert to… Paul!
