Ephesians 2:11 – The so called ‘circumcision’

…the nations in flesh – who are termed “Uncircumcision” by those termed “Circumcision” in flesh made by hands…

Here Paul speaks about the so called “Circumcision” and hereby refers to the ritual that takes place with human hands on the flesh. We might think that this is the real circumcision, but that is not the case for Paul. The visible ritual is “termed Circumcision” while the true circumcision is “of the heart” (Romans 2:29). The ritual is only outward and work of human hands. True circumcision, on the other hand, is inwardly and God’s work. The external ritual is only the representation of it.

In Deuteronomy 30:6, GOD foretells through Moses that when He will gather the people of Israel back to the land, he will also circumcise the hearts of the people. He will take away the cover that is on their hearts, like the foreskin which is removed with the circumcision ritual. To this day there is a covering on Israel’s hear, so that they are not able to understand the books of the old covenant (2Cor.3: 13-16).

When GOD removes the foreskin from their hearts, then they will dis-cover the resurrected Christ. Depicted in the fruit of the oak as an emblem of shining, new life and fertility!
